Experiment with clay, learn the basic techniques such as coiling, slabbing and pinching, and try throwing onto the potters wheel. Create your own unique sculptures. Creche Available.

Experimental and Expressive Drawing Techniques

This course covers aspects of drawing which include; line, perspective, composition, shading and the uses of drawing media. Each lesson will introduce original approaches to drawing a variety of subjects including portrait and still life. Suitable for all.  Crèche  available.

Fused Jewellry Making

Create your own unique piece of fused glass jewellery.  Learn to cut glass, assemble your piece, mix it with metals and fire. There will be an additional £3 per term towards materials.

Mbira

Learn to play and sing with the Mbira! ( a traditional instrument from Africa also known as a thumb piano)  Mbira music is meditative, relaxing and powerful but can also be an uplifting and exhilarating experience.  All musical abilities catered for, no experience required.  The course will conclude with a performance by the class.

Improver's Dressmaking

This course is suitable for students who have completed at least 2 terms of  Beginners Dressmaking or have previously made clothes using commercial patterns.  You will try more challenging garments and techniques and feel confident tackling projects independently. Progression to  NCFE Dressmaking classes (City College) or Pattern cutting or BTEC fashion/clothing courses (City College or Northbrook).

Absolute Beginner's Dressmaking

An opportunity to produce a finished garment using a commercial pattern of your choice.  Work through the pattern instructions while learning how to use a sewing machine.  Students will need to buy some basic equipment and a pattern from the tutor.  Two terms recommended before progression to ‘Improvers’ class.
