Aimed at giving people confidence and experience in office and administrative skills. You will learn a range of office skills including customer service, using office equipment and IT  administration. This is an employment skills course for people working or seeking employment now or in the future.  Students can achieve one unit of OCR Level 1 Text Processing, and must have basic computing skills.  Crèche available on Mondays only.

Timetable slots:

Mondays 12.30– 3.30pm
Thursdays for 34 wks: 1.15-4.15

Working with Children

This course will suit you if you are looking for an introductory course to working with children. It will give you the opportunity to prove your competence in a school or play setting and will give you a foundation on which to develop your employment prospects in this area. You will need to have a placement in a childcare setting for at least 12 hours during the course and will need to be CRB checked. Crèche  available

Sage Accounting

Introduction to the widely used computerised accounting software – Sage line 50.  Covering basic payroll, trading profit and loss accounts and balance sheets.  On completion, you will take an accounting exam at level 2.

Skills for Work

An opportunity to gain some extra skills for use in the workplace or to help you get ready to return to work. Each term will look at different skills, such as speaking confidently at work, self assessment, and positive attitudes and behaviours at work.

Office Administration

This taster course will introduce you to the IT skills required in most office and secretarial roles such as using Microsoft applications and emails.  This will introduce you to the core elements required for the Award in Administration qualification (which will be available in September 2010).  Basic computer skills are essential.
